Bluepoint’s PS4 remake of the 2005 classic from Fumito Ueda, Shadow of the Colossus, has been a hit and holds an impressive 92 Metacritic score. Bluepoint’s president and co-owner, Marco Thrush says working on Shadow of the Colossus allowed the studio to grow its art team, but instead of taking on an original title, Bluepoint will be doing another remake that’s even bigger than Shadow of the Colossus:
There are countless possibilities that would fit the bill of Bluepoint’s next remake, but a vocal community online is hopeful that the studio might be working on a Demon’s Souls remake. From Software’s first game in the “Soulsborne” series, Demon’s Souls is the title that would most benefit from an update, if only to expose more people to the franchise’s origins. However, with the recent announcement of Dark Souls Remastered, it may be too many Souls remakes/remasters at once.
Regardless of what game is in development, it sounds as though Bluepoint is growing in size with each project it undertakes and is nearing the point where it could create its own original triple-A game, but technical director Peter Dalton says that, while the studio’s technical and art teams have improved, Bluepoint would really have to look at its design prowess before it embarked on an original game:
Bluepoint is based in Austin, Texas and is well known for its work on positively-received remakes, remasters, and ports including Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, and the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall.
Shadow of the Colossus is available now on PS4.
